Our chicken souvlaki skewers are a classic Greek dish in which tender chicken pieces are marinated in Little Olive Oil's extravirgin olive oil (EVOO), lemon juice, garlic, and oregano, then grilled to perfection. These flavourful skewers are perfect served with creamy tzatziki for a light and delicious meal. Add vegetables like bell peppers or red onions to the skewers for colour and flavour. Chicken souvlaki skewers pair well with flatbread, a fresh Greek salad, rice, or roasted vegetables.
Kalinjot Pure is the best EVOO for this recipe. It works beautifully in marinades, and it’s just as good as a finishing drizzle once cooked.
How to make Chicken Souvlaki Skewers
In a large bowl, mix the Little Olive Oil EVOO, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, sea salt, and black pepper.
Add the cubed chicken breast to the bowl and toss to coat well.
Cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for more flavour).
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes to prevent burning).
Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the skewers, distributing them evenly.
Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked and has a nice char. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 75°C.
Or you can bake the skewers in a preheated oven at 200°C (180°C fan) for 15-20 minutes or until fully cooked, turning halfway through.
Transfer the grilled chicken skewers to a serving platter and serve immediately with a side of tzatziki.
